Too Old for Fashion?

Leave it to kids to remind you you're not exactly with it when it comes to fashion! This was news to me when my daughter reminded me of this as I tried to pick out a few tops for her.

Everything I picked up - she disliked! OK, so I'm not an expert on what's appealing to 13-year-olds. Their fashion likes are not mine. Then again, they're not meant to be!

However, when it comes to fashion, I don't think I'm too old. Especially when it comes to finding fashion for moms! Age has nothing to do with finding wearable, stylish clothing to fit my lifestyle and figure. Not to mention budget!

I don't wear mom jeans (stone washed jeans that are belted under my armpits)! I like jeans that are darker. Some even with a little bling! I shop at stores that help keep me in style - stores like JCrew, Ann Taylor, Anthropologie and online department stores too.

I stick to solids, mostly. They're classic and eternally elegant for any age! I do like color and am not afraid to be bright! I avoid baggy, shapeless clothes. Suits don't fit my lifestyle anymore, so they're out. Frills, ruffles, shawls and costume jewelry don't appeal to me at all!

I had a really nice compliment from my daughter the other day. She came into my closet and was quick to tell me that she would probably wear this dress - probably this one too; this top; these shoes - then went on her merry way!

Bottom line for older fashionistas? Be comfortable with who you are. Remember: aging is a case of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter!
