This article, entitled "Water, please!" comes from Pat Persaud, MomsEveryday blogger from Omaha, NE.
I had a rude awakening the other day as I face planted in the bathroom of a restaurant! Fortunately for me, I'm OK - just a bump on the forehead and a little embarassment. I'll live!
What happened? Dehydration. Lack of water in my body!
I'm an adult and should know better. Just wasn't thinking. Had little to drink that day, exercised, didn't eat or drink much and it was a hot one outside!
Anyhow, just wanted to urge you to stay hydrated. Whether you're an adult or child!
Water is so important to our overall health. It's not only key to helping our bodies get rid of waste, but water improves our ability to fight illnesses. Without adequate hydration we could die! It's that serious!
Here's a game plan that I'm using now to make sure I stay hydrated. I have a glass of water to start my day. I have a glass of water with each meal and have a bottle of water with me when I'm on the go!
If you have a hard time drinking water, try adding a slice of lemon, lime or even a slice of cucumber to your glass of water to add flavor.
Sports drinks are also good to have around. Especially if you have kids and they're spending a lot of their day outside. These drinks will help replace sodium and potassium that we lose when we sweat.
Also, keep in mind there are plenty of foods that contain water as well. Oranges and melons are rich in water and nutrients that can nourish our bodies too.
So drink up, stay hydrated, stay safe!
