Keeping Your Car Messes Under Control

Is your car a mess? If one of your jobs as a mom is to play the role of kid taxi, chances are you answered yes.

Kids are notorious for leaving things behind and busy moms don’t always have time to stop and clear out the excess. Here are a few ways to stay ahead of the mess:

1) Keep a few plastic grocery sacks available to collect trash. Pitch the bag next time you stop at a gas station or grocery store that has an accessible trash can.
2) Kids, no matter their age, are going to spill. You’ll be thankful if you have a roll of paper towel (or a stack of napkins leftover from your last drive-thru trip) and a pack of wet wipes handy.
3) Not all car messes are spills and trash. Kids tend to keep toys, books and other items in the car for entertainment, but you don’t want these things rolling around the floorboards or covering the seats. A catch-all tote bag can not only keep these items contained, but the bag is also portable and easy to transfer to the next car they’ll ride in.
4) Get the kids into the habit of keeping their messes under control. This is definitely easier said than done, but taking a couple of extra minutes each time you go home to tidy up will not only save time on your next trip to the car wash, it can also reinforce good habits around the house.
