Charge Your Portable Devices with the Sun!

This article, entitled Charge your portable devices with the sun! comes from Amanda Hearn at The Eco-Friendly Family.

Portable electronics offer a whole lot of convenience (and fun), and I barely remember life before my iPhone. Spending time outdoors or away from home can make charging these devices difficult, and I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy the security my phone gives me. We have three small children and I never know when I may need to make a call or be reached. Having a phone die because I wasn’t able to charge it isn’t really an option.

This summer has been crazy (move, dog search, school shopping!) and keeping my phone charged and ready could have been a big challenge. Thankfully, I got to really try out a product meant specifically for small handheld devices, like a smartphone, that can be charged via USB.

The WakaWaka POWER Solar Smartphone Charger is exactly as the name says, solar! It can charge fully in the sun, or by cord if you choose. The WakaWaka is small (just larger than a smartphone), which makes it easy to toss in your bag or a pocket, and take it on the go. I found the WakaWaka to be very easy to use and reliable.

In addition to powering up handheld devices in less than two hours (in most cases) it also provides hours of bright light. The WakaWaka is ideal for anyone on-the-go, camping, caught without power or traveling! (Just to name a few!)

The WakaWaka comes in black or yellow, has great reviews and is reasonably priced, compared to other devices.

How do you think the WakaWaka would come in handy for you?
