Chemical engineers develop a way to transform two-dimensional patterns into three-dimensional objects using only light.

Inside Science Buzzwords:

  1. Origami - The art of Japanese paper folding.

  2. Infrared light - An invisible form of electromagnetic radiation just beyond the visible light spectrum that can be felt as heat.

  3. Polymer - A chemical compound, tending to be flexible and lightweight, that is formed by smaller identical molecules that link together.
