This article, entitled "Me, Me, Me!!!" comes from Serese Cole, MomsEveryday blogger from Omaha, NE.
No, that's not what my kids said to me this week.
It's my new motto...
Because - sometimes it DOES have to be about us!!!!
As a mom - I'll admit it.
I sometimes get so bogged down with being a mother, a chef, a cleaning lady, a tutor - and now that's schools back - a volunteer ... I often forget to take time for myself!!
I am trying to change that right now!
I started by making time for exercise again.
I used to have a routine in place - but between soccer, football, baseball, swimming, choir rehearsal and church and school functions - my "workout" time - disappeared.
Here's why I know I needed to take action:
At first I thought something happened to my suits... did the cleaners do something to them?
For some reason they were beginning to fit a little tighter! The buttons a little harder to fasten...
Then I realized - it couldn't possibly be ALL my suites...It was ME!
And I thought about it - I no longer have a consistent exercise routine: I just get on the elliptical whenever I can find the time - which is NEVER!!
And whenever I do make time to go downstairs to workout, my kids follow me and whine, "How long are you going to be doing that. When are you going to play with us?"
I needed some "me" - fitness time!
And it was my goal to get back to doing it on a regular basis.
I started with something I knew I would enjoy- Zumba Class: good music, an energetic instructor - and the company of other women in my same situation (AND it was out of the house).
It was just the motivation I needed.
And you know what? It worked!
I started going to the class once or twice a week.
Now I'm hitting the gym at least four times a week….
And I've added classes like Body Pump and Toning!!
It's funny, the more you work out - the less you want to eat!
Who wants to ruin all your hard work??
I haven't gotten on a scale - and really don't plan to - but I FEEL so much better, and I'm enjoying time set aside just for ME!
It's not selfish...
It really does make you a better mother, a better wife - even a better employee!!
So whatever you love to do - whatever gives you that burst of energy - make sure you make time for it.
You are So worth it!!
That's my mom tip this week...
Until Next Time,
