LUX Center For The Arts

The non-profit Lux Center for the Arts offers art education in contemporary fine craft media, printmaking, and photography. Year-round classes for students of all ages and skill levels are taught by professional artists, and exhibitions provide learning and sales opportunities, representing a cross-section of local, regional and national artists. An active scholarship program, internship program, and an artist-in-residence program furthers the Lux Center's educational mission.

Combining learning about contemporary art and fine craft with the display of historical art and artifacts can be a tour de force for educating youth. The Gladys M. Lux Museum collections of historical dolls, prints, and paperweights serve as an important historical counterpoint. The collections are displayed with information that relates the history and significance of each piece.

The Lux Center collaborates with a variety of local and agencies, educational institutions, public and private corporations, arts organizations, and individuals in extending educational opportunities to all area residents. Biennially, the Art of Fine Craft Conference brings exceptional artists working in fine craft media to Lincoln to demonstrate and lecture before students, artists, teachers and collectors. A juried exhibition coincides with the conference, offering a broad spectrum of contemporary fine craft.
