Working on my little girl's sassy mouth. My six-year-old daughter sounded like a teenager for about a week - acting snotty and talking back. I knew I needed to "nip it in the bud" quickly or it was going to get worse.
So, I had a talk with her when she wasn't being sassy. I explained that it is my job as a mother to raise her to be respectful. When she talks snotty to me that is being disrespectful. I told her she would have to go straight to her room the next time she did it.
Well, about 4 hours later she said something snappy. Straight to her room she had to go. A little later she said something again. Straight to her room she went. It worked better than I even thought it would!! The next time she started to get sassy, she stopped in mid-sentence and said "oops I'm sorry mommy". She has really improved. I can tell she's thinking about her words.
Hopefully this will stick until the next time.. ha ha..
