Those funny, square barcode-looking things that are cropping up everywhere are called QR Codes – or Quick Response. You’ve probably noticed them lately on everything from coupons or ads in magazines to signs, movie posters, business cards, and more. That tiny little code can hold lots of information. So how do you access it?
Through your smartphone. Download a barcode reader, and open the application. When you do that, your camera will automatically start up. Aim your camera at the code, and the barcode reader will scan the information for you. Next, you’ll have the option to visit the product’s website, or to share the information you’ve found with others either through text or email. The QR code featured here will take you to a yummy Korean and Japanese restaurant’s website, where you can scroll for their coupon. When you click on it and show it to their staff, you score free dumplings.
Easy-peasy and fun to use, so expect to see many more of these in the future in all sorts of capacities.
