South Bend Airport FAQ

Q: What are the best days of week/times of day to travel with Children?
A: SBN recommends traveling at non-peak times, such as midday, late at night or Mondays through Wednesdays to increase the chance of flying on a less-crowded flight. Uncrowded flights may have empty seats that will allow children room to stretch out.
Q: Sometimes when flying, our ears seem to pop from the pressure. What are some tips to help with the sensitive ears of our children when traveling?
A: Air pressure changes during takeoff and landing can cause ear pain in babies and young children. A quick tip for this is providing a pacifier to encourage swallowing. Swallowing will help ears adjust to air pressure changes. Sucking on lollipops or eating crackers can encourage toddlers to swallow, while older children may find relief by chewing gum.
Q: What type of amenities does SBN offer for parents traveling with Children?
A: SBN Childrens play area - "Take-off. A Play Port for Kids" - help rid children of energy before the flight by running around. Post security dining options - with snacks to take on board. Wi-fi in the terminal to allow for movie/game downloads to mobile devices to entertain kids while in-flight
Q: What are the nonstop destinations from SBN ?
A: Orlando-Sanford, Tampa St. Pete, Phoenix/Mesa, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland and MSP
