Q: I am ready for a new look. Where should I start?
A: The best result is going to start with a good consultation. Our stylists and colorists go through advanced training to best understand how to deliver the results each guest is looking for, every time. This can lead you in the direction of a new style or color... or maybe just a shopping spree. The most important thing is that you look and feel your best. This new look MUST be something you can live with- not just love how it makes you look, but something you can manage every day and make sure it looks like you just walked out of the salon every day!
Q: What is the best way to communicate what I am looking for to a stylist or colorist?
A: Bring pictures!!! The picture doesn't have to be exactly what you are looking for, but may pick up a tone of color you like or the bang style you want to add to your look. And don't be afraid to speak up. All of our technical staff is trained to listen, then repeat. If they are repeating what they are going to do to your hair but it doesn't match what you had in mind- say so.
Q: I tried something new- and I hate it! Do I have to live with it?
A: Never! That is the beauty of beauty... Didn't quite get the color right? Call to schedule a color re-do right away. Cut 12" of hair off, and now you miss it? Schedule another consultation... there are options like extensions or just learning some new ways to style your hair so it feels more like you.
Q: Why are you a no-tipping salon?
A: At Douglas J we feel it is our professional duty to provide the best service at a fair price to each and every guest. Our staff is compensated for their skills and ability and are able to make a career out of a profession that used to not be sustainable for many. Not only does our technician receive a fair wage, but they also receive bonuses, advanced education and raises based on how they treat valued guests such as yourself. 5-star service is the only acceptable level of performance for the Douglas J team.
