Sarah Grady Ackerman talks with Dr. Dennis G. Fiorini from Fiorini Chiropractic Center about a possible remedy for chronic or occasional headaches. Most people tend to think that when they have a headache, it is coming from inside the head and that may not be the case. Most of the chronic daily headaches actually come from a misalignment at the base of the skull. A little bone, called the atlas, is at the base of the skull, and a couple of nerves come out from the back of the spinal cord and go up the back of the head. When there is a misalignment at the top of that atlas bone, it puts pressure on those nerves and can cause a headache, mostly a tension type headache. At Fiorini Chiropractic Center, their doctors examine each person, do an x-ray, and determine the root of the cause of the headaches. They may tell their patients "their head is not on straight." The doctors conduct the possible adjustment needed to get "their head on straight" making the headaches go away.
