Big Bend Community Care needs foster parents. - Becoming a foster parent is extremely rewarding and BBCBC can help you help children in our community.
Sarah Grady Ackerman talks with Carol Edwards with Big Bend Community Based Care about becoming a Foster Parent and Adoption. There is a major need for foster parents in our community. BBCBC has a campaign that is called “Local Homes for Local Kids” and is really intended to ensure that children stay within their home community so that they don’t lose out on those important connections that they already have. There may be some hesitation to become a foster parent. - Carol would tell you that you are needed. Although it is work that is sometimes difficult, it is also very meaningful and purposeful. There is lots of support to help you along. There is training and services put in place to make sure that you have everything you need. The characteristics that are looked for in a foster mom are that of a “mom that enjoys being a mom, enjoys parenting, someone who is flexible, has a loving heart, and one who is committed to making sure that the child’s overall well-being is a priority. Becoming a foster parent is extremely rewarding – “Moms tell us all the time that it is the best thing they have ever done.”
