Sarah Grady Ackerman talks with Tom Johnson from America’s Second Harvest of the Big Bend on how to get your teenagers involved in the community. America’s Second Harvest of the Big Bend is always in need of volunteers. They rely on volunteers to sort through all the food donations in order to distribute to their partner agencies. They also rely on volunteers to keep their warehouse running including small business tasks. They would not be able to feed the hungry without their volunteers. It’s very easy to get involved. Just give Second Harvest a call and let them know when you are able to come in. A short video is required and necessary paperwork. The process is very hands on and short. Volunteering is very rewarding for kids and teenagers. The kids tend to change and want to be more involved once they become a volunteer.
