Gulf World Marine Park’s new additions! New Baby Dolphins
Gulf World Marine Park is proud to announce the birth of two Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins.
Monday August 23, 2010, Brinnon, gave birth to Striker at 7:15am.
Tuesday August 31, 2010, Sandy, gave birth to Jett at 9:10 pm.
Both calves, Striker and Jett are doing very well. The boys are very curious about each other and all the other dolphins that they meet. Recently, both babies were observed learning ventral (upside down) fluke slaps from their moms. While not as powerful or loud, it was adorable! Slapping different parts of their bodies on the surface of the water is an important way that dolphins can communicate information to other dolphins. We will continue to keep everyone posted on the calves’ development.
The thrill of Gulf World’s incredible dolphin show will leave you speechless as our dolphin stars perform a dazzling array of flips, leaps and twists. In this high energy performance, our trainers demonstrate the dolphins’ tenderness and grace by diving right in to swim alongside them! If you are sitting in our splash zone, watch out for waves! This is sure to be a show you will never forget.
Our Sea Lions silly antics are never the same making this performance full of laughter and fun! It is an exciting adventure with one of the ocean’s most entertaining animals, and you will want to be a part of it. Watch as our Sea Lion stars mimic their trainers, suffer a species identity crisis and even plant a sloppy kiss on a member of our audience. About that kiss… do we have any volunteers?
Have you ever seen a parrot ride a bicycle? How about a cockatoo on roller skates or a macaw that plays basketball? You will see many amazing stunts during the Performing Parrot Show in the Tropical Garden Theatre. A flock of squawking, lively feathered friends take center stage in this performance, and our trainers amazingly keep up with their excitement and enthusiasm. You have never seen a show quite like this before.
They’re creepy, they’re scaly, and they are here for your enjoyment during our new Reptile Show! Come join our resident reptile expert as he takes you on a rowdy educational excursion with some of the world’s wildest and most misunderstood animals. Snakes, alligators, and lizards all have a starring role in this production and surprise special guests include tarantulas, toads and other creepy crawlers. There is no telling what slithery creature you’ll see next!

Explore the deepest depths of the blue sea at Gulf World’s unbelievable Underwater Show. In a large saltwater aquarium, you’ll see schools of spadefish and grouper swim right past your fingertips while Gulf World’s performers and scuba divers teach you about life on the ocean floor. Look closely for our slithery moray eel and watch as our stingrays glide along the sandy floor in search of food. It’s an up close and personal experience with some of the ocean’s most peculiar inhabitants, and you don’t want to miss it!

A Variety of Delicious foods… Grilled chicken, burgers, dogs and other items are available at the Gulf World Grille. The Snack Bar offers pizza, popcorn, ice cream, drinks, candy and lots more. In the evening the Tiki Bar is open during evening shows. The Gulf World Grille may be closed during some slower seasons, however the Snack Bar is open daily.

Take a trip out of your classroom and into ours during a field trip to Gulf World Marine Park! We offer special group rates and field trip opportunities to school groups, boy and girl scout troops, and many more groups and organizations.
During your time at Gulf World, your group will encounter exciting animals from around the world, including dolphins, sea lions, alligators, sharks, penguins, flamingos and tropical birds. Through experiential learning and up-close animal interactions, students will discover the importance of the ocean’s fragile ecosystem—as well as ways to protect the environment in their everyday lives.
Here at the park, we also realize the emphasis teachers place on state educational standards. To help with curriculum planning, therefore, we have created many helpful activities, games and lesson plans to assist teachers in the classroom—before, during, and after a field trip to Gulf World.
