Swimtastic Swim School

At Swimtastic, our goal is to teach young children to swim in a positive, safe and loving environment.

We recognize that each child is an individual with different emotional and developmental abilities and we cater each lesson to those needs.

In addition to teaching the skill of swimming, we strive to develop each child’s self-esteem, confidence and love for the water — because creating a happy swimmer is a gift that lasts a lifetime.

Swimtastic Swim School FAQ

Q: How young should I start my child in swim lessons?
A: We recommend beginning lessons at the age of 6 months. This leads to a smooth water adjustment process for the child along with early development of life-saving swim skills.
Q: What would be the ideal class size for my child?
A: Smaller class sizes will always allow for individualized attention, which will maximize the growth rate of each child. Pending on the needs and current level of each particular student: private, semi-private, or small group lessons will be your best bet. We would recommend to never exceed a limit of four children per class; unless you are participating in a parent-child class, then we would recommend a limit of 6. Any more than that and the learning of each student will be diluted. There simply wouldn't be enough focus on each child with a large class size.
Q: Is there anything I can do at home to help my child progress with their swim skills?
A: Absolutely, we actually recommend to practice certain techniques at home to help increase the learning rate for our students. Many things can be done at home in either a bath tub, pool, or even around the house. Some of these techniques are breath holds, blowing bubbles, back floats, straight leg kicks, and big reaching arms. After all, practice makes perfect!
Q: If I take a break in swim lessons for a few months will my child fall behind?
A: Truthfully, yes. Consistency is very important for young swimmers to acquire and retain skills. For each month your child is not in the pool, it takes roughly 1-2 classes to return to their previous skill level. For example, if you take a break for 1 semester (average 3 months), it will take about 3-6 classes to return to the skill level they were at when they left off.
Q: Can swim lessons really save lives?
A: Yes. It's a proven statistic that swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88%.
