Sync and Swim

Here's a chance to do a little homework on doing a little homework. Sylvan Learning Center is tapping technology to help kids get in sync with school.

Sabrina Cox is a Sylvan Learning Center director who says, "SylvanSync is a new instructional program that we have at Sylvan that is state-of-the-art technology through the iPad paired with our Sylvan-certified teachers. It directly aligns to state standards to help accelerate reading and math skills for children of all ages."

It all begins with assessments to determine where students are starting out and what they need to learn. That leads to a personalized plan for each child.

Sabrina said, "It's very engaging and very motivating when a student can get in there and take a hands-on approach to their own learning and get real-time feedback on how they're accelerating their skill set. And it helps the teacher connect better with the student as well."

Sabrina says this can all get started early. "We start as young as four and go all the way up through high school."
