Total Tutoring Services, Inc’s mission is to provide targeted, quality tutoring that fills the specific academic needs of our students, giving children the confidence in school and in life, impacting families and the community one child at a time.
We begin each session with organizational tools, prioritizing work and agenda planning. Having direct, personal guidance and expert attention in each subject matter makes all the difference in truly understanding the material students are required to learn. Their skills improve, their homework gets done accurately and their grades and self-confidence rise!
We help prepare students for upcoming tests and projects, work on the difficult math concepts they are studying in the classroom, guide them through any writing activities teaching them the editing process, help work out science problems so they comprehend, teach them key concepts about their history lesson and set them up for the week's worth of assignments they should complete on their own. We cover it all, and teach your child how to be a better student through the process.
Total Tutoring FAQ
Q: What sets Total Tutoring Services apart from other tutoring companies?
A: Total Tutoring focuses on each student’s individual needs rather than having a “canned” program. Most Importantly, we work with the student’s classroom curriculum to reinforce what is being taught during the regular classroom day. Total Tutoring starts by determining the needs of each student based on information from the parent, classroom teacher and any available academic data. From that information, Total Tutoring develops a plan for the student to achieve academic success. Total Tutoring will check student’s current grades and contact teachers, if needed, to ensure that the student’s academic needs are being met.
Q: What does tutoring entail?
A: The needs of the student drives what happens with each student’s tutoring session. These are students who need the traditional approach of homework help and re-learning material that was not understood or forgotten. The tutor will develop lessons to re-teach material and will help students with their homework. Some students want enrichment to their regular classroom material. Once again, the tutor will develop lessons, but these will build on what is learned in the classroom.
Q: What does it cost?
A: $40.00 per hour private, 1:1 sessions
Q: How will I know if my child is making progress?
A: You will receive a brief summary from our tutor after each tutoring session, upon request, a monthly progress report can be provided, or if an Individual Learning plan has been established. (Additional fees may apply)
Q: How many days a week should my child received tutoring?
A: We have found that a minimum of two one-hour sessions weekly establishes consistent work habits and helps to maintain a current GPA. When a student is behind or has additional goals, three to four hours of tutoring per week are recommended until academic goals are met, then move to two times per week.
