What kind of technology do you offer?
Comfort Keepers has technology solutions to help keep seniors safe at home. All seniors want to be independent and live in their own homes, but nothing is more important than their safety. Whether a response to an emergency or medication reminders, SafetyChoice in-home care technology solutions by Comfort Keepers means help is always at hand. SafetyChoice complements our in-home care services with around-the-clock monitoring so you know that help is available.

Our technology includes: Personal emergency response systems. Help is always "on call" for you. With the simple push of a button on a sonsole,wrist band or pendant, a response professional a tthe centralmonitoring station will answer the client though the two-way, table top PERS console and respond to the clal f or help.

Wireless PERS with GSM cellular technology: uses cellular connectivity for those who no longer have a land line based phone. The base unit utilizes a sim card providing coverage in most areas. Features include two-way voice, a back up battery, low battery reporting and a waterproof pendant.

Portable PERS with GPS technology: An ideal solution for individuals concerned with safety away from. An individual's location can be determined with pinpoint accuracy via internet or telephone. In the case of an emergency, one push of teh SOS alert button sends a signal to the central monitoring station where the device holder is connected via a two-way speaker phone.

Wireless camera: Allows those given a secure username and password access to view live video of an individual via an internet connection at any time.

Pressure sensitive floor mats: Ideal for people who are fall risks or suffering with dementia, wireless floor mats send an alarm to the central monitoring station.

Door/Window contacts: Motiona detectors or sensors can be programmed to signal when a door or window is opened.

Help Button: this larger, water-resistant pendant can be wall mounted or attached to clothing for ease of use for individuals with mobility or strength restrictive issues.

Smoke detectors: These detectors signal the central monitoring station to dispatcht the local fire department.

AROUND-THE-CLOCK MONITORING: The central monitoring station offers around-the-clock help in case of an emergency. Trained professionals respond direclty to a call for help through a two-way conferencing feature, dispatch appropriate help when needed and alert caregivers or loved ones. They remain on the line with a senior or family member until help arrives or the emergency has passed. Our goal is to provide rapid response, support and communication between our clients, their family members,and their Comfort Keepers.

How does Comfort Keepers help with Medication Management?
Approximately 40% of people entering nursing homes do so because they are unable to self-medicate in their homes. In addition, 30% of all hospital admissions for people over age 65 are directly attributable to medicaiton mismanagement. The SafetyChoice TabSafe Medication System offers a safe and affordable way to make sure the right dose of medication is given at the right time.

How do you differ from hospice?
While hospice is end-of-life care, Comfort Keepers is recommended as a way to support your family member at any stage of their senior years, including end-of-life.

Our interactive caregiving focuses on four interrelated aspects: engagement of the mind, an active body, proper nutrition and safety.

MIND: Maintaining a strong mind through mental exercise is critical to a senior's overall well-being. We invigorate clients' minds through conversation, reminiscing, story telling, and other activities. We also address specific needs of seniors experiecing dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

BODY: Exercise and physical activity help seniors maintain muscle tone,flexibility, balance and range of motion -- all essential factors to sustain independent living.

NUTRITION: To encourage healthy eating, Comfort Keepers encourage participation in meal preparation. We ensure our clients consistently eat a nutrient-rich, well-balanced diet.

SAFETY: There are several ways we encourage the safety of our clients. We provide guidance on how to make the home safer to accommodate the physical changes that naturally come with aging and other issues. We also offer technology solutions, such as a personal Emergency Response System, a fall detector andother monitoring devices.
