Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall FAQ

Q: Should I buy or Lease?
A: Each customer is different. If you follow some simple guidelines, you will be able to identify which is better for you. Leasing pays for the vehicle at the rate of consumption, but does not address the residual value (kind of like a loan with a final balloon payment). If you want to own the vehicle, it may be cheaper in the long run to finance it up front. See if you can answer yes to the following questions: 1. I never want to own the vehicle. 2. I know how many miles I will drive during the lease. 3. I will not want to trade or terminate the lease early. 4. I want to upgrade vehicles on a pre-scheduled basis. 5. I will always have car payments. If you answered yes to these questions, a lease may work well for you. You can get more vehicle for less money per month on a lease.
Q: How do I know if I should buy a new or used vehicle?
A: This is a personal question and can only be answered by the buyer. Look at all of your options and make the best decision as to what fits your needs. How long will you keep this vehicle? How many miles per year will you drive? Are you going to borrow money to purchase this vehicle? How much have you budgeted for this purchase? Is it per month, or total? A lot of the choice is tied to finances and you need to make a well informed decision. Purchase the vehicle that best fits your needs and budget.
Q: Is there a better time of the year to buy a new car?
A: Depending on what book you read, not really. There are different influences that happen every year that affect how cars are sold and what type of factory support is available if any. If there are big rebates or incentives, there is usually a reason. End of the year model close-out, large national days supply, slower than normal market conditions, etc. Every time a manufacturer gives a rebate, they are lowering the transaction price of that vehicle, which influences resale of that vehicle down the road. A lot of the decision as when is the best time to buy is dictated by your needs and how long you will own this particular vehicle. A reputable retailer will always earn your business by mapping out your options, giving you the information, and letting you decide.
Q: Is it better to get financing with the dealer or the bank?
A: The process of buying a vehicle becomes easier if you allow the retailer to assist with the financial arrangements when paying for the vehicle you just chose. In many cases, the retailer may be able to get you a better rate, even at the bank you currently do business with. Its always good to know your options prior to starting the buying process. An informed buyer is a safe buyer.
Q: Should I get an extended warranty when buying a car?
A: This is a personal call. An extended warranty is a health plan for your vehicle. You are buying coverage down the road at today's rate. There is a chance that you will not need the coverage, but can you afford to risk it? Here are some basic guidelines. If you are out of warranty prior to the vehicle being paid for, I highly recommend buying the additional coverage. If you are going to trade the vehicle prior to it going out of warranty, I would recommend not buying the added coverage. You need to look at your risk of loss. Do you have a financial reserve to cover unexpected repair costs? Do you want to risk it or not? Any vehicle, no matter what you purchase, or how much you spend, will fail at some time. What is your risk of loss? Look at your situation and make the best choice for you.
