Womanspace seeks to inspire individuals to discover new talents, interests and friendships, and is dedicated to helping people live their best lives through programs that enhance mind, body and spirit. Situated on a seven-acre campus with art studios and galleries, Gallery2Go gift shop, beautiful gardens and a labyrinth, Womanspace has touched the lives of more than 20,000 men, women and children since its founding in Rockford, Illinois in 1975. Womanspace operates as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Womanspace FAQ

Q: Do I have to be a member of Womanspace to take classes there?
A: No. With the exception of support groups, membership is not required for participation. It is encouraged, however, since members enjoy many benefits, like a 10% discount for themselves and immediate family members on class fees over $20, when paid by cash or check. Members also receive our publications via mail, have Library privileges, may vend in Gallery2Go and at our open houses, and are invited to a special event for new members.
Q: May men take classes at Womanspace?
A: Yes! Womanspace is very inclusive and men have always been a welcome part of our organization as members, instructors, participants and volunteers. There are only a few programs designed especially for women, and typically, they don't appeal to men.
Q: Is there a charge to visit your gardens?
A: No. Our campus grounds, including the beautiful gardens, pine forest, prairie and Labyrinth, are open to the public free-of-charge seven days a week during daylight hours. They are our gift to the community. Donations are welcome, however, and there is a rental fee to use our campus for occasions like weddings and other special events.
Q: May my children (grandchildren) take classes?
A: Yes! We have several art classes throughout the year for boys and girls age 9 and up, often as family-friendly art shops, plus kids age 7 and up can enroll in our summer art camps. We also offer a Junior Membership designed for girls age 9 and up, with lots of fun and interesting programs.
Q: How are you funded?
A: Womanspace is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, but receives no outside funding from the government, United Way, etc. We have provided top-quality education and enrichment since 1975 with the financial support of members, class fees, donors, business sponsorships, grants, and special fund raisers held throughout the year.
