Preschool Time

The new year ushered in a new change to our family routine. Brody officially started preschool this week! It's crazy to wrap my head around the thought that my little guy is already old enough for preschool. As I wandered the store shopping for school supplies for the first time, I couldn't stop thinking about how fast time has flown by since I've become a mom. I still clearly remember how heartbroken I felt during my first day back to work following my maternity leave. After taking a then three-month old Brody to daycare, I sobbed the entire way to the TV station. Fast-forward three years and here we are already...it's crazy!

I knew that preschool would be an easier transition. Reason one: Brody was psyched to go. Reason two: these days, I'm lucky enough to spend a lot of quality one-on-one time with him. Finally, I'm actually pumped at the thought of all I can get accomplished during the few hours he is in school. All you moms out there know what I'm talking about. We're pros at time management when the kiddos are not around! That being said, I couldn't help but get a little misty-eyed when I saw Brody put on his adorable Buzz Lightyear backpack this week.

For his first day, Ted and I both dropped him off at preschool. We met his teacher, checked out his classroom, and watched as his happily joined the other kids. Brody seemed unfazed as we gave him a kiss and waved bye for the morning. (I was relieved there were no tears this time around!) When it was time to pick him up for the day, I peeked in the cafeteria. He looked so cute sitting at the lunch table with all the boys and girls. Once he spotted me, Brody was eager to tell me all about what he learned.

It's exciting to watch Brody start this chapter in his young life. So, what should we expect during these preschool years? I always welcome advice and tips from parents. I'm already proudly displaying Brody's first preschool project on the fridge. Where's a pause button when you need one? He really is growing up so fast!
