Bethany Christian Services FAQ
Q: What can someone do who is experiencing a crisis pregnancy?
The first step is talking to someone who can answer your questions and provide information regarding your pregnancy options. We have been assisting women with unplanned pregnancies for more than 65 years and have served more than 71,000 women. With more than 80 locations throughout the U.S., we are here to serve you. You can reach someone by calling 1-800-BETHANY, text "impregnant" to #77054, or access live chat at www.impregnant.org.
Q: What is infant adoption?
Infant adoption is the adoption of a newborn or very young child whose birthparent has made the difficult decision that she is unable to parent at that point. These parents love and wish that they could parent their children but feel that adoptive placement is the best decision for their children. The parents relinquish their rights voluntarily. The majority of birthparents who take part in infant adoptions select and meet the prospective adoptive parents and want some level of openness in their adoption, which refers to a level of contact after the placement.
Q: How can Bethany assist us in adopting a child?
You will participate in an interview process known as the adoptive family Home Study. The Home Study involves both joint and individual interviews and a home visit. Certain paperwork and the assessment are required by state law and are helpful in preparing your family profile. Your family profile includes photos and information about you. In addition, Bethany offers pre-placement counseling to prepare families for parenthood and adopting a child. Many Bethany offices offer educational meetings where potential adoptive parents can meet with other prospective adoptive parents and birthparents who have made adoption plans.
Q: What is International Adoption?
International adoption is an exciting journey. It blends a family’s love for children and desire to adopt with the wonder, blessings, and challenges of international travel and receiving a child from another culture. Bethany currently offers adoption programs in Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Ethiopia, Haiti, Hong Kong, Lithuania, the Philippines, Russia, South Korea, and Taiwan
