Are Your Kids Keeping Their Social Media Secret?

Presented By: Amanda Lanum

More kids are using “secret” social media - apps they can use to send messages or pictures, which then erase the content. These apps, like Snap Chat, have grown in popularity among teens and college-aged students. Police encourage parents to be aware of these types of accounts because predators are becoming more active there as well. With messages and pictures that disappear, it’s difficult for parents or law enforcement to track who is sending what messages to kids, which means it would also be difficult to prove any illegal activity that may happen. KVUE in Texas recently did a report on these secret social media apps.
