It's Spring! Cocktails Anyone?

Pat Persaud

Hurray, it's spring! Been waiting all winter for this!

To celebrate, let's have some adult fun with cocktails that are sure to put a little spring in your step!

After planning Easter egg hunts and readying baskets full of goodies, sit back, relax and enjoy some of these fun cocktail recipes at brunch or anytime during the season of new beginnings!

Make these cocktails part of your grown-up spring traditions:

Spring Mimosas (Giada de Laurentis)

  • 3/4 cup of fresh Basil Leaves
  • Juice of 2 lemons (fresh squeezed)
  • 1/2 Cup of honey medium strawberries
  • 1/2 cup of sparkling water or club soda
  • Chilled champagne glasses

Combine basil, lemon juice and honey. Crush basil with wooden spoon. Stir in strawberries, Prosecco and water. Serve in chilled champagne glasses. Makes about 4-6 servings.

Pat’s Classic Mimosa ( my own concoction)

  • 1/3 cup of Duval LeRoy Champagne
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Raspberry for garnish
  • Splash of Grand Mariner (optional)
  • Chilled champagne glass

Pour chilled champagne in first, add raspberry then orange juice and grand mariner (optional) to top off. This recipe if just for one. The important part of any mimosa recipe is to mix equal parts sparkling wine to orange juice!

Black Jellybean

  • 1 part vanilla vodka
  • 2 parts licorice flavored liqueur ( sambuca)

In a shaker, add ice and combine ingredients. Pour into martini glass.

Bunny Martini

  • 1 1/2 shots Chocolate Liqueur
  • 1 ½ shots Creme de Cacao
  • 1/2 shot vodka
  • Ice
  • Chocolate shavings or sugar(for rim of glass)

Combine ingredients together in martini shaker and pour into chocolate rimmed martini glass!
