Job Searching Tips for Teens

This article, entitled "Job Searching Tips for Teens," comes from Melanie Bloom, MomsEveryday correspondent from Lincoln, NE.

A part time job will not only teach your teen new skills but also help teach responsibility.

It's not always easy to find employment when you're a teenager, but the internet can be a helpful tool; just search your city, state and employment. There are also websites geared toward hiring teens like teens4hire.com and summerjobs.com.

If they’re applying online, they should create a resume, include name – but for safety reasons don’t put address or phone number, instead create an email address for the employer to call you.

Most internships don’t pay but offer a chance to get some experience in a particular career field. Teens who are interested should talk to guidance counselors about opportunities.
