Mesa Developmental Services provides supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities, children with developmental delays and their families.  All those served receive case management to coordinate services and resources, to set goals, and for assistance with advocacy.  For adults, MDS provides residential supports via a variety of options from supervised living to minimal assistance for those living in the community or with their families; vocational training and job placement; supervised work crews; day habilitation services for people with more significant needs; and ancillary services including nursing, behavioral health, social activities and classes teaching skills to live more independently.

Children’s services begin at birth for children identified with a developmental delay.  Free home and community based therapy and early childhood development services are provided as appropriate in type and frequency to age three.  These services can be extended for private pay and insurance reimbursement for children age three to five.  Many children leave the program with age appropriate development.  For those needing further services, MDS assists the family with customized supports to assist the family in their caregiver role.

Uniquely Yours

Uniquely Yours, operated by Mesa Developmental Services, is truly a unique shopping experience featuring handmade arts and crafts from around the world and distinctive items made by local people with disabilities.  Artists served through MDS create jewelry, bird baths, bird feeders, wooden accessories and pottery items.  The import line is Ten Thousand Villages, a nonprofit humanitarian trade organization connecting North American consumers with artisans from over thirty Third World countries.  Ten Thousand Villages organizes artisans, pays them a fair wage and contributes money back to their communities to improve social conditions.    All purchases at Uniquely Yours contribute to MDS’ vocational programs to improve self-sufficiency for people with disabilities and worldwide fair trade.
