Homemade Musical Instruments

Whether it’s an unexpected snow day or rain or even too much sun that’s keeping you and your kids inside… you need ideas to fight the chants of “I’m Bored!”

Try making your own music with these ideas:

Start with classics like putting wax paper over a comb to make your own kazoo...it’s no harder than folding the paper over the teeth of the comb so both sides are covered and then simply humming into it.

Or...grab a plastic egg and partially fill it with pop corn, pennies or rice to make your own shakers.

Give an old hairpin a stretch and new life by taping bobby pins to a tin box or a glass to make a thumb piano.

And don’t leave out the drums, always just a pot and wooden spoon away.

See what kind of music your kitchen band can dream up!
