The theatrical release of Disney Pixar's Cars 2 has achieved national holiday status in our house, according to our 6-year-old son.

It all began on September 23, 2010 when he learned of the movie's release date. The Cars 2 Countdown Clock has been a higher priority for him than Christmas, his birthday and the last day of school.

Simply put -- he's obsessed.

We have Cars EVERYTHING. The bicycle, the McQueen coin bank, the dinnerware and even the Cars laundry hamper. I haven't even mentioned the toys. He doesn't have every die cast Cars figure ever released, but I'm confident in saying he does have most of them.

Then, last month the Cars 2 toys hit shelves. Here we go again.

I digress. This is supposed to be about the movie.

Cars 2 takes Lightning McQueen and Mater around the globe for the World Grand Prix. But this isn't just a film about racing, it's an adventure-packed spy movie.

The majority of the cast from the original is said to be returning for the sequel, and of course, a lot of new characters will make their debut such as Finn McMissile, voiced by Michael Caine.

As an added bonus, the movie is being released in 3-D!

For those who enjoy the short film that precedes the feature presentation, this one is called Hawaiian Vacation, starring Barbie and Ken from Toy Story 3.

With all the hype, I asked my 6-year-old, "What if you don't like the movie?"

With an exasperated eye roll, he responded, "Of course I'll LOVE it."

Truth is, I'll probably love it too.
