The Sarah Nelson Memorial Pancake Breakfast is more than just an annual tradition and fundraiser, but a devotion to keep a young woman’s spirit and leadership alive.
Eau Claire County’s Older Youth Council and their Relay for Life team will be preparing for the 2014 Sarah Nelson Memorial Pancake Breakfast. All in remembrance of the exceptionally missed and devoted 4-H member and her vision. Sarah Nelson, in 2003, we lost too early at the young age of 17, in a fatal automobile accident. Not only did Sarah’s inspiring attitude and encouraging smile make many determined to better yourself, she also was a cancer survivor of 15 years.
Sarah acquired a vision and challenged Older Youth Council Members to start a Relay for Life Team and help to raise money to fight against this great cause. As a memorial to Sarah’s devotion and her hard work she put forth for the Eau Claire County Older Youth Council, they host an annual pancake breakfast in her honor, as pancakes were one of Sarah’s favorites. And of course, ALL THE PROCEEDS GO TOWARDS RELAY FOR LIFE, SARAH'S TEAM.
The Older Youth Council is a group of involved 4-H members from Eau Claire County who are 8th grade and older. They meet monthly, and focus on Community Service and giving back throughout the local area communities. Astonishingly, since 2003, Sarah’s Team has raised over $30,000 for the presently incurable disease of cancer!
As Sarah’s loyalty to community service and courageous battle with cancer was exhibited when she was a 4-Her, her spirit and vision is still leading youth all around the community.
Please join us on Sunday, February 23rd, 2013 from 8am – 1pm at the Cleghorn Fire Station. Only $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids... All You Can Eat!! These home-made pancakes, sausage, cheese-curds and muffins will not only honor a brilliant young woman, so many continue to look up to, but support Relay for Life. Hope to see you all there for this great cause!"
