Many of us wake up to a cup – or two – of coffee, kick starting our day with a boost of caffeine and antioxidants. In today’s moms everyday minute, new evidence suggests that having a cup of Joe before hitting the gym may help our workouts.
According to a Spanish study, athletes who consumed caffeine before exercising burned 15 percent more calories for three hours post-exercise than those who did not.
Participants consumed about 300 milligrams of caffeine – equivalent to 12 ounces of coffee. Other studies have shown that coffee can improve circulation, lessen muscle pain, and improve short term memory.
So rather than thinking of coffee as a vice, drink up to better health. Just don’t overdo it. Two cups of coffee is enough for enhancing physical performance. And think twice about adding fattening cream and sugar.
