Q: What are the top reasons for engine overheating?

Q: How often should I have my oil changed?
A: Use the Manufactures recommendations in your Owners Manual or a good guideline to use is every 3 months or 3,000 miles.
Q: Why do my brakes squeak?
A: The previous shop may have used inferior products to repair the brakes. Also exposing the vehicles to a lot of water or dust, such as taking a vehicle to a car wash, can also cause squeaking.
Q: What does the Brake warning light mean on my car's dashboard?
A: There is a problem with your brake system. Possible problems could be ABS, and Electrical problem, the fluid level could be low or it may be simple wear and tear.
Q: What does it mean when my Check Engine or Service Engine Light comes on mean?
A: This is the same as saying your car needs a tune up. The computer in your car found a problem with your emissions control system, which could be emissions or fuel related.. The best way to solve this in contact a service center and have them hook up the trouble shooter computer to the cars computer to locate the problem.
Q: How do I know when my car needs a wheel alignment?
A: The best way to tell if your car or truck needs a wheel alignment is to inspect the wear on the tires. if there is more wear in one area this could be a good sign that your car needs an alignment. Another way to tell is if your car is pulling to the left or right.
Q: Can my driving habits affect tire life?
A: Yes, If you take corners too fast, use heavy acceleration and panic stop. Other ways to shorten the life of your tires are: Not having your tires inflated to the correct pressure, not rotating them or if your car is out of alignment.
Q: How do I prepare my vehicle for a long trip?
A: Have mechanic check belts, hoses, fluids, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, motor oil, tire tread, proper air pressure, tire alignment, filters, wipers and brakes. Your trusted mechanic will follow the car manufacturer guide lines to make sure your car is safe and ready for your trip.
Q: The check engine light on my vehicle is going off, what should I do?
A: Before you continue operations make sure there are no other warning lights on or any instruments are out of range like temperature to high or low oil pressure. You should bring the vehicle in immediately and find out what’s wrong with it. The problem could be as simple as a loose gas cap or as complicated as a misfire that could damage the converter. In that case it could possibly damage the engine.

Minnick's is your source for efficient and affordable state inspections performed by our ASE certified specialist.  State inspections are required by law, and also ensure the safety of your vehicle.  If your inspection finds that you need brake or exhaust work done, we will gladly offer 10% off the cost of the brake or exhaust work, plus your inspection will be free.
