Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA Area, Inc. FAQ

How does your debt management plan work?
The creditors work with us and we follow their guidelines as far as minimum payments and interest rates are concerned. We look at your monthly net income and monthly living expenses. If you choose to go on the debt management plan you will make one monthly payment to us and we pay your creditors monthly, all with the end goal of being paid off in full in 5 years or less!

Will this hurt my credit?
It can lower your score, slightly, due to the fact that your accounts are closed. Anytime you close an account, your score will come down. However, your score will improve, over time, with on-time monthly payments and overall debt reduction.

How much does it cost?
We do not charge a counseling or set up fee. If you chose to go on the DMP, the fee is 7% of your monthly payment or $30 (whichever is less). That fee is subject to reduction or even being waived, based off an individual’s circumstances.

Can you pull my credit report?
Yes! We can pull a tri-merge report, which is all 3 credit bureaus. Your counselor will go over the credit report with you and give you info on improving your credit, disputing any incorrect items and answer any questions. The price is $24 for a single/individual or $34 for a couple/joint report.

Can you reduce the amount of my debt?
No, we do not offer that service. You will have to pay back the full amount of your debt.

We average managing $1.7 million dollars of debt annually in our successful debt management plan program. Unlike frequently advertised and misleading debt settlement programs, our DMPs include a personal counselor who serves as mediator between you and your creditors, manageable monthly payments, reduce interest rates and cessation of collection calls. You make one monthly payment to CCCS, and we do the rest. We can help you avoid bankruptcy.

Among the other services we offer clients are budgeting help and debt management plans. We also offer low-cost credit reports, financial education and pre- and post-bankruptcy counseling. Our counselors provide individual assistance with managing your money, examining current financial problems and education to prevent future difficulties. Many of our programs are available online, accessible from the comfort of your own home.

Another area of focus for CCCS are our HUD-approved homebuyer education and housing counseling programs. We can help you navigate home buying criteria and mortgage readiness, as well as budgeting for home improvements, lessons in financial fitness and foreclosure intervention and default counseling, whether you are a first-time or repeat buyer.

No matter where you are in your debt, we can help. Acknowledging the problem is the first step, calling CCCS is next. Contact us by phoning 304-522-4321 or 888-534-4387, or e-mailing
