Help for Animals Clinic FAQ

How did you become interested in exotic animal medicine?
Initial love of reptiles. I grew up with guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and hermit crabs. Steve Erwin was my hero. I notices as an adult that there were not enough vet prof. knowledgeable enough to treat exotics.

What classifies as an exotic?
Small Mammals (chincillas, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs)
Reptiles (snakes, lizards, amphibians)
Avian (birds)

What exotics do you see?
Small mammals and reptiles mostly. (rodents, rabbits, ferrets)

What services do you offer?
Wellness visits, exotic ownership consults and treat outpatient illnesses. For those that need further diagnostics, imaging and medical care, we refer to Pawsitive Pet Care Clinic in Flatwoods, KY.

Any special things you want to tell owners or potential owners of exotics animals?
They all require their own unique and specialized care and habitats. Do your research before acquiring an exotic pet. They are not a pet to buy on a whime. Avians and many reptile species have the ability to outlive you. Always be careful where you buy your exotic pet from as well.
