About Us

What is United Way?

United Way of the River Cities is a nonprofit organization, the mission of which is to partner with our diverse and united community to solve its greatest issues. United Way supports programs and strategies that address critical issues in the Focus Areas of Education, Income, Health and Safety-Net Services. This support is in the form of fundraising, grant writing and convening partnerships. United Way ensures that a safety net of services is available throughout the region, as well as strategies that create long-term solutions for some of the most persistent problems within our communities.

Why United Way?

When donors invest in United Way, they can be confident that their dollars will be invested in the best programs and strategies to get the best results for the community. The institutions and partnerships that administer these programs and strategies are vetted by United Way volunteers and staff, so donors can be assured that their monies are being used to solve the region’s most pressing problems. Donor dollars stay local to address the needs of local people.

Your gift supports programs, strategies and partnerships that address issues related to our four Focus Areas: Education, Income, Health and Safety-Net Services.

United Way FAQ

What does Success By 6® and the entire Education Initiative at United Way of the River Cities do in our community?
Success By 6® seeks to ensure that all children are ready physically, mentally, developmentally, emotionally and socially to begin kindergarten. This initiative focuses on children from birth to age 6, and it fits into an entire Education Initiative at United Way of the River Cities. The Education Initiative is a continuum that promotes student success in preparation for school, work and life by mobilizing the community and providing diverse opportunities for learning. Education Matters is also part of this continuum. We really want to make sure children grow into successful adults.
