I've Got It Mom!!
That's exactly what my six-year-old told me Sunday morning when I tried to go over his solo with him for church.
I was a nervous wreck...
He was calm as a cucumber!!
All weekend long, I slyly suggested going over his song with him just to make sure he was good with the words and notes, but he would never bite.
So by Sunday morning...I was done with the subtle approach and gently requested a quick rehearsal. He politely denied my request.
So... I let it go (as much as it pained me) and we went to church.
When it was time for his solo, he steadily walked up to the mic, bravely stood in front of everybody and when it was time - sang out with confidence (and was in tune)!!
Everyone clapped after his solo...and by the end of the song - I was teary-eyed and proud!
After service, everyone told him what a great job he did.
And of course I agreed!
I could tell he was proud of himself, too.
When I asked if he was nervous - he said, "No."
I believe him.
But I couldn’t say the same.
I guess at some point, we have to learn to start trusting our children...and their judgment - even at the ripe age of 6.
And although I would never tell him - I would have NEVER gotten in front of all those people to belt out anything!!
Have you ever had a hard time letting go and allowing your kids to handle something on their own?
I'd love to hear about it!!
Until Next Time,
