When the kids come home from school, they’re probably going to be hungry and we want to make sure we provide them with a healthy snack.
What is a healthy snack? Start with a "terrific trio" -- something with protein, something with whole grains and a fruit or veggie selection. Here are some examples:
1) half of a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread, apple slices and baby carrots
2) baby carrots, hummus and whole grain tortilla wraps
3) grapes, cheese cubes and whole grain crackers
4) a deviled egg, whole wheat bagel and cherry tomatoes
Once again, the perfect snack is that tasty trio, combining whole grains, fruits or vegetable and a lean protein.
