This article, entitled "Amazon unveils $20 'STEM' toy subscription club for kids," comes from partner site Money Talks News.
Amazon is now selling a monthly toy subscription designed to encourage children to learn through play.
The subscription is called the “STEM Club,” as it features science, technology, engineering and math toys. A different toy is delivered to the recipient’s doorstep each month.
Amazon notes that its editors “work closely with smart and trusted brands we love to handpick the best STEM toys.” The company continues:
From programmable robots to rockin’ crystal kits and chemistry sets to cool arithmetic toys, STEM Club will challenge and inspire while expanding young minds through play.
The subscription is available for children in three age brackets:
- 3 to 4 years old
- 5 to 7
- 8 to 13
To purchase it for a child, you just visit Amazon’s STEM Club page, click on the box for the appropriate age group and then click on the orange “Subscribe now” button.
The first toy will ship for free within two days of your purchase, reaching the recipient in about a week, according to Amazon.
The subscription costs $19.99 a month. It automatically renews at that price each month, but you can cancel at any time. (Just go to “Your Memberships & Subscriptions” under “Your Account.”)
Amazon’s price seems on par with, if not cheaper than, other subscriptions we detailed in “It’s All the Rage: Toys That Bolster Kids’ STEM Abilities.”
Would you consider a STEM Club subscription for any of the children in your life?
