Flat Will Visits Nebraska

We recently said goodbye to Flat Will. The flat, little guy from Sacramento visited us in Lincoln, Nebraska to learn about our lives in the Midwest.

Flat Will (like Flat Stanley) travels the world in envelopes. Students send the paper doll, which they decorate, and written information to people in other parts of the country or the world through the mail. The host families take pictures of the flat character in their town to help exchange ideas and answer questions for the student.

Flat will is the creation of our friend’s son, Will Fuller. Since Will is a huge San Francisco Giants fan, he decorated it with “Go Giants” and “take the pennant” written on his body.

Our family took care of Flat Will for about a month. Here’s what he saw:

“The Nutcracker” at the Lied Center for Performing Arts
The Nebraska State Capitol
Memorial Stadium, home of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team
A farm with cows
A barn
A tractor
An education building at the Nebraska State Fairgrounds
The 10/11 TV station
And since Flat Will likes sports, he wore a Husker corncob hat, and stood near Kansas City All-Star Alex Gordon stuff in our son’s room.

Overall, I believe Flat Will enjoyed his journey and will now help “tell” the friends and teacher in Will’s school all about Lincoln and the Cornhusker state.

Has a Flat Stanley friend visited your home?

Until next time… Happy Parenting adventures!
