Crayon and sandpaper iron-on t-shirt transfers

This art project involves making a homemade iron-on design using only sandpaper and crayons.

To try this yourself, you will need the following items:

  • Crayons (old crayons would work great because they will get worn down on the sandpaper)
  • Sandpaper
  • An Iron
  • Parchment paper
  • A plain cotton t-shirt, tote bag, pillowcase, etc. that you can put a decal on

Have your kids draw a design on the sandpaper. Hint: Letters and numbers have to be drawn backwards on the sandpaper to transfer onto your material.

With your iron set to the highest setting for cotton, lay your sandpaper facedown on your material, place a piece of parchment paper over it, then hold the iron down for two minutes. Voila!
