SHADES of Development believes that children and families have the right to participate in after-school programs that support their beliefs, values and goals. SHADES programs are concerned about the whole child. Therefore, SHADES of Development is diligent in learning about the goals families, schools and communities share for the children in each of our after-school site locations. We realize that each family, school and community is unique and should be celebrated for that uniqueness.
SHADES of Development staff members are among the best in the industry. Each SHADES of Development staff member is selected for his/her educational and practical experience, as well as, his/her special skills and abilities to relate to children in a positive manner.
Each SHADES of Development staff member is involved in an intense orientation training. The orientation training offers training on Policies and Procedures, Health and Safety, Child Development, Developmentally Appropriate Practices, Human Relationships, Activity Planning, and Behavior Management. Staff members are also trained in CPR and First Aid. SHADES staff members are then required to participate in a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of ongoing training throughout the year. SHADES of Development believes that well trained responsive staff members are the heart of the after-school program.
Caring for our community's children in a safe, fun, nurturing environment, focusing on educational support, creativity, physical play and mutual respect during out-of-school time.
Our vision is to provide Safe, Healthy, Adventures that Develop Essential Skills for lifelong learning and success for all school-age children in need of out-of-school time services
SHADES of Development believes that children learn and grow with every interaction they encounter during their waking hours of the day. Afterschool time is a time to enhance learning, promote relationship building, and exercise conflict resolution techniques in a relaxed, nurturing and fun environment. The SHADES Afterschool program bridges the school day and home life. SHADES further believes that it is essential to create an environment of mutual respect where adults and children can share, laugh, and learn together by setting goals, communicating, developing trust and holding ourselves and each other accountable.
I refuse to be less!
